Supervision

What is Supervision?

Good therapeutic practice dictates that regardless of how well qualified or experienced the therapist, regular supervision of cases should be undertaken.
I undertake supervision on a regular basis for all my clients and supervisees.

I offer supervision to other therapists. The model I use contains a structured approach of contact, contract, key issue identified, parallel process and reduction of harm (Ethical considerations). I model the required process and assist the supervisee to identify an increase in developmental direction.

I am also endorsed to supervise Transactional Analysis psychotherapists.

How Much Supervision do I need?

How much supervision you will need depends upon your caseload and level of qualification. If you are still in training, then your supervision requirement will be laid down in your training handbook. A common ratio is 1 supervision session for each 6 client hours. If you have qualified, then you may feel a monthly requirement of 1.5 hours a month is sufficient.

Feel free to contact me to discuss your specific needs.

Group Supervision.

A monthly supervision group is available at the Bodmin Psychotherapy and Counselling Centre. This group is for psychotherapists and counsellors who wish to benefit from a safe environment in which to explore and discuss their various supervision issues. The group is for a maximum of 4 participants and meets one day a month. Date and times vary to suit participants' needs.
The cost is £40 each per meeting. The length of the meeting will depend upon the number of supervisees, with one hour per supervisee for a maximum of 4 people.
